Mr Rogers died today. Rogers died following a bout with stomach cancer at his Pittsburgh home, leaving friends, colleagues and generations of people who grew up watching him in mourning. He was 74. A television icon who put on a zip-up cardigan and sneakers each day and gently invited millions of children to be his neighbor, Fred Rogers never wavered in the mission he considered his ministry: to use “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” as a way to persuade young viewers to love themselves and others. Rogers is survived by his wife, Joanne, a concert pianist; two sons; and two grandsons.
six years ago today The Mr Q&0153; I shared our first kiss. We were making eggrolls in the kitchen of Hudson Hall. I kissed him. Today is our six year anniversary of couple-dom. I am a very lucky woman. ::kiss::
someone said to me today
”Quentin Tarantino is the spiritual sage of our generation”
my retort
“oh no...I gotta hurry the fuck up and get in another generation”
Well..I thought it was funny! :)
ya know what it really weird? Chatting with Stephen of Flywheel on AIM while listening to the Flywheel CD. It’s a good weird, but it’s still weird. It’s just the coolest thing that I get to chat with him. He’s such a doll. The more I talk to him the more I like him. It’s awesome! :) Oh yah...I’ve made a Flywheel skin too. It’s listed now. I think I have become obsessed with this. I’ve got 11 currently. AND Stephen says that MY favorite Flywheel song is the bands favorite too! :) Madness. See..I really do have good taste! :)
“There’s a method to my madness
A reason for my sadness
The truth it lies I’m told
and it rips right through my soul
In the eyes of the beholder
A strength just like a solider
Method to my madness
a reason for my sadness”
~ Madness - Flywheel, Pat Gasperini & Stephen Bell
My name is Luka, but I have been a Luka since before I was born. I’ve ALWAYS had this nickname. I went thru a period of time where not only did I NOT want to be Luka, but I didn’t want to be Luka either - I wanted to be called Elizabeth. (That didn’t fly well.) I HATED the names Luka and Luka. Luka was too “kiddy” and Luka was SO old fashioned and not nearly as “cool” as Elizabeth. At first it was just my family that called me Luka and my friends all called me Luka. At school and at work I was always Luka. Then slowly it started shifting - that my friends AND family call me Luka. At work I am still Luka, but hardly anyone that I am friends with calls me Luka. Most people call me Luka. Most people introduce me as Luka as well. I’ve actually started to introduce myself as Luka. They are going to call me Luka eventually anyway. (Again, unless it’s a work thing or a The Mr Q&0153; school thing.) I have found that I am really more of a Luka than a Luka anyway, personality wise. I am silly and funny, not serious and stuffy. I am a 4 year trapped in a grown woman’s body. I am all about the candy and ice cream. I AM Luka. I embrace my nickname. It has become my name. I almost forget that my name really IS Luka and not Luka. It’s funny - when you make a nick name for people you SHORTEN their name. Not me baby, my nickname is LONGER than my given name. I am so cool like that ;)
if you go here You can find the #1 song on the day you were born. The U.S. No.1 on the 17th May 1978 was… If I Can’t Have You by Yvonne Elliman.
If I Can’t Have You
Yvonne Elliman
(B. Gibb/M. Gibb/R. Gibb)
-Peaked at #1 in 1978 from the soundtrack album “Saturday Night Fever”
-Sold over a million copies and was Yvonne’s only top 10 hit
Don’t know why
I’m survivin’ ev’ry lonely day
When there’s got to be no chance for me
My life would end
And it doesn’t matter how I cry
My tears, so far, are a waste of time
If I turn away
Am I strong enough to see it through
Go crazy is what I will do
CHORUS:
If I can’t have you
I don’t want nobody, baby
If I can’t have you...uh-huh, oh
If I can’t have you
I don’t want nobody, baby
If I can’t have you...uh-hoh
Oh...da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da
Oooh, oooh
Aahhhh! Aahhhh!
Can’t let go and it doesn’t matter how I try
I gave it all so easily to you my love
To dreams that never will come true
Am I strong enough to see it through
Go crazy is what I will do
(CHORUS)
Oh!
Aahhhh! Aahhhh!
Oh!
(CHORUS X 2 with ad-libs, fade)
so..i’ve changed the you can chose a skin(style.) There is a pull down window now, and the actual descriptions and preview images are on another page. It cleans up the page a little bit, and I can add more description the listings. I currently have 8 skins. I am going to add more, especially now that I have them on their own page. Keep an eye out for new skins(styles.) The first new one features a picture of David Boreanaz in a tub - he is naked but you cannot see anything. This is the same picture that I have currently used on the Monthly archive page. (that page is all fubar’d though right now. I still need to fix that.) The second new one features an image on a fan, and is reversed from the rest of the styles. the blog content in on the right rather than on the left. I now have 9 styles for people to chose from.
I have been watching the Grammy’s since 8pm. This my play by play. It’s quite long and I don’t want to force you to read it :)
1. Best pop duo or group with vocal Hey Baby - No Doubt. Not a huge fan of that song, but I really like No Doubt.
2. Best pop vocal album Norah Jones come away with me. Her music is beautiful
Faith hill looked funny and she sounded awful!
Did you SEE Justins face after they read Brits name? Classic.
Vanessa Carlton she looked great but sounded somewhat weird.
John Mayer looks funny when he sings. Its the damn grammies- DRESS UP!
James Taylor AND Yo Yo Ma! J Fucking Sweet! :)
I love Kim Cattral, but HATE P-Diddy. Their banter made me ill.
3. Best male pop vocal performance John Mayer Your body is a wonderland. He is cute! :) I still wish he was dressed up. I liked how he was honest about how hard this was for him.
4. Best Rap Album (it BETTER be Eminem) Eminem the Eminem show. Damn it Marshall, why they HELL arent you dressed up. Cool use of him time to honor those who came before. :)
Good Lord Queen Latifa is so beautiful, and I LOVE the Dixie Chicks. I was just saying today to Officer Crush how much I liked this cover. Ok..these are beautiful women, but D A M N what were they thinking stepping out on stage like that?!
5. Best County Album Home The Dixie Chicks!! :) Thats SO what I thought baby! :)
Totally cool to see the New York Philharmonic play. What does Philharmonic mean anyway? Coldplay with a back up of a symphony. That was pretty neat-o too. It reminds me of the S&M album of Metallica.
It is now 9:18. Ive been watching for over an hour and there have only been 5 awards. The Mr Q&0153; says that I can watch till 10 and thats it.
6. Best Spoken Comedy Album Robin William Live 2002. That show was Funny as FUCK! Did you get to see it? :) If you havent you should. He is a riot! :)
I actually like Avril a lot. Her songs though are really different from track to track. She dressed punk, but her music is SO not. :) That was a kind of a funky thing at the end though the screen went all white.
AgainQueen Latifa is SO beautiful. Ok..with the Great White tragedy just days before, you would THINK that they wouldnt use Pyro. But this song..its catchy. One time I said to The Mr Q&0153;its getting hot in hereso he replied, so take off all your clothes. It was funny cause it was pop culture refrence from my stone ago husband :) Ive noticed that the audio is off on tonights show. Kelly just started singing but her mic wasnt on. Stuff like that has been happening all night. I like how they went back and forth at the end though that was a nice touch.
I KNEW someone was going to make a war protest. But that wasnt nearly as BIG as I thought I would be.
7. Best hard rock performance Foo Fighters All my life. But Rock would be nothing without BB King? What was THAT all about?
The audio is all messed up still with Robyn. Bruce Springsting and the E Street band. I guess this is a song from his album all about the 9-11 tragedy. Im not a big fan of The Boss. Never really have been, never really will be.
8. Song of the year Jesse Harris I dont know why - Norah Jones.
I LOVE the Bee Gees and I LOVE Nsync! How perfect! (This is the last thing I get to watch - The Mr Q&0153; is sick of this show.) They boys are so cute! :) And they did it ALL acapella! :) That was damn cool! :) I am glad I’ve been able to watch it this far! :) What is UP with JC’s hair? I don’t like it AT ALL!
Ok...that was it. I am all done watching the Grammies. The Mr Q&0153; is tired of the show. He just said “Is that it?” And I said “Yupp” so he says
“Thank God!”
Oh my GOD. Flywheel is the MOST amazing band I’ve ever heard in my whole life. That concert rocked on SO many levels! They were great - their songs were amazing, and their covers kicked ass! Tonight they did covers of System of a Down, Alice in Chains (Crush Rob’s fave band) and AC/DC. They did some other stuff too, but I don’t know the names of the bands. They did an awesome cover of the song Crazy Train. I even GOT ON STAGE for their last song - Highway to Hell by AC/DC. I actually got on stage and danced - that was SO SO SO fucking cool! This band is going places - and I think its just the coolest thing that I’ve seen them in lil bitty hole in the walls. Like Pat said - coming soon to an arena near you! Speaking of Pat - OH MY GOD! Every time I see him my infatuation just grows. He’s SO fucking adorable. He’s the one that all the girls want apparently - so getting him is getting more and more out of reach. But...really..that’s prolly a good thing :) I get jealous, but I don’t at the same time. Don’t get me wrong - I still want him. But I don’t think he wants me. He’s my RockStar Crush. I turned my pictures in to Wal-Mart today - sometime next week I should have new pictures of the boys! :) I can’t wait to post the new pics of them! :) I am SO SO SO wired! It may be the m&m’s - but I think it was Flywheel! That show was just SO fucking cool! They are the whole package. Not only are the amazing musicians, but they are all gorgeous and they are GREAT guys! funny as hell and nice to everyone they meet! Can’t wait to see them getting all the recognition they deserve! And they will get it! :) Flywheel is the band to watch baby! they have a couple of days off - they play again Thursday night - and I told Stevie to call me and I’d come play video games with them. It would be so cool to actually get to hang out with them in a place I could actually talk with them. Hopefully he will call ;) In any video game we would play - he’d beat the pants off of me, but I still wanna play him. Pat is my RockStar Crush and Stevie is my “Man With The MOST Amazing Eyes I’ve Ever Seen & Wickedly Hot Accent” Crush! They are real life people, but they are bigger than life. After they leave Tampa I prolly won’t ever get to see them again like I have seen there here. They are going to get HUGE and I’d have to be some hot chick to get backstage :) Course...I would show them my boobs. I show EVERYONE my boobs. I’m such a boobie whore! :) But getting back to my point. I know them in real life - but they really ARE rockstars and my crushes are like the ones I have on rock stars. But oh my GOD! What I wouldn’t give for ONE shag! :) I’m not just a boobie whore - i’m a full on whore! :) I love me! :) I am SO on the Highway to Hell - and it’s paved with lustful intentions to the men of Flywheel!
