they say death comes in threes
i got one of "those" phone calls today. you know "those" kind. the kind that stop you dead in your tracks. the kind that bring a knock down drag out fight down to hand holding and quiet reflection in seconds. i got a phone calling telling me a client died. she was found in her apartment today. another client of ours, her boyfriend of 10 years, was the first on the scene. he found her body. i cannot even image what he's dealing with. i am going to see him tomorrow, but i don't know what to say. how do comfort someone in that much pain? I've never had a loss like that;the loss of a significant other. a loss like that is my greatest fear.

except for losing a parent. getting that phone call would be devastating. my friend miner got one of those calls this week. his father died. on accidental overdose. he was in his late 50's. he was young. and he's gone. and miner will never be the same.

you know that Butterfinger commercial? the one where the old guy gives his wife his teeth so she can eat the candy bar? that commercial always makes me cry - it reminds me of my grandmother. she never wore her false teeth. the only time I ever saw her in them was at her funeral. i was 14. my best friend's grandmother passed away last week. they were very close. it's been very hand on my girl - she looked up to and admired her g'ma very much. my girl has 10 more years with her grandma that I did, but even that, wasn't enough to make this any easier.

it's been said that death comes in threes. lover, father, grandmother. countless lives changed and reshaped. even for all the hurt happening right now, i can't say that death is all bad. growth and good things can come from change. whatever happens I wish my friends love and luck and swift healing of their broken hearts and spirits.

we loves redheads
yesterday i went to see Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen with some clients. I really liked; so did they. Sleepy even stayed awake the whole time, which is unusual for him. that Lindsay Lohan girl is just so darn cute. and she can SING - her voice is really nice. during the pre show there was a Hilary Duff song on. i hear that Linds and Hil (as they are called to friends) don't get along. Something about some backstreet boy's little bother or something. they showed a preview for Mean Girls, another fick with Linds in it. Lacey Chabert is also in Mean Girls. (Claudia from Party of Five) I actually am glad I went to see the movie - it was funny and cute. It's sort of reminds me of another genre of teen flicks, with another plucky red head. To every generation : there is a redhead.

I actually learned something while watching this flick. Pygmalion is by George Bernard Shaw, right. And My Fair Lady was based on Pygmalion. I don't think I knew that. Cause when I hear the name Eliza Doolittle I immediately thought My Fair Lady - and was REALLY confused when they kept talking about Pygmalion.

During the preshow, you know - those advertisement slides - I turned around and noticed this group of 4 teenagers making out. there were 2 girls and 2 boys. the couple closest to the wall - that was boy on girl; meaning that he was leaning in front of her to kiss her. the other couple, they were girl on boy. at first i was a little shocked. then i remembered what it was like to be that age. to want to kiss all the time. granted - ive got no idea if they'll go shag later - but lets hope that they don't. they were all of 15, maybe 16. i didn't shag at that age. let's hope they don't either.

the theater was filled with little girls. like LOTS and LOTS of little girls. The only guys - the two I brought and the two behind me. I am nearly positive. During the course of the film there were songs, like always. But apparently these were all songs these little girls knew, so they would all sing to them under their breath. the whole theater was filled the sounds of little girls singing. it was really sweet. they cheered when Lola kisses Sam at the end of the movie. it really made me look forward to having a girl child.

three cars from today
this picture was much funnier when I thought Sammy Hagar sang about not being able to go 65.* I took this while driving home today from work. yes, I did say while driving home. it wasn't the safest thing to do, but obviously everyone is ok -and I promise not to do it again. But I was going to say something about how Sammy sang about NOT being able to go 65 but how I could; thus , somehow, sort-of, I was cooler than Sammy - or something. But since he sang about going 55, and i captured 65 then I am a dolt. But it's still sort of a neat looking picture. Nes pa?

Wednesday was my friend Blackout's birthday. I met him last year on his birthday. Blackout told me the first night we met - after talking for hours about his grad school stuff - that was he really did for a living wasn't studying. he was actually a sheriff for the county. a deputy sheriff. i called him on his birthday, well, the day before, and he said that he'd call me back. he hasn't. but apparently that's a pattern. I gave him the moniker Blackout cause there are things that he doesn't remember. Things that he should remember - cause he was sober. but he claims that he doesn't - thinking the girls in his life will forgive him easier if he was drunk. weird. I just wanted to wish him a happy birthday. the freak. this picture is of a car that is always in the parking lot near me. ive never actually seen a sherriff in it; or even near it for that matter.

this is the "Jackson Pollock" car that we've got in our parking lot. I first saw it back in May on the campus. since then I've seen it parked near the front of our complex nearly every day. it's an older guy that drives it too. pretty damn cool car. pretty damn cool.

my name is luka
I guess I am the only one who got my "joke".
did you happen to catch my clever play on words? the ones in my tag line? I am so very very proud ::smiley:: i am a total dork like that.

My name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you've seen me before

If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble. some kind of fight
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was

I think it's because I'm clumsy
I try not to talk too loud
Maybe it's because I'm crazy
I try not to act too proud

They only hit until you cry
And after that you don't ask why
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore

Yes I think I'm okay
I walked into the door again
Well, if you ask that's what I'll say
And it's not your business anyway
I guess I'd like to be alone
With nothing broken, nothing thrown

Just don't ask me how I am [X3]
~Suzanne Vega

maybe it wasn't that clever after all?

it was called bagel & bagel
i opted for the couch for a 30 minute nap. it was good.

i had a nice lunch today. i had a nice toasted poppy seed bagel with smoked salmon cream cheese. usually i just go for plain cream cheese, but i was feeling adventurous today. it was a wise choice. what wasn't a wise choice was the milk and peanut butter cookie i had for dessert. it was sour - the milk. i shook the milk up and took a nice healthy swig and then promptly spit it into my napkin. i was glad i still had some of my soda left to wash the taste out of my mouth. the cute guy, who while I was ordering my food said he really liked my bright yellow sandals, gave me a new milk from the back; it was nice and fresh. dag nab it. im hungry again.

i got up on time
i set my alarm for 9am. it went off, i realized that i didn't need to be up yet, so i reset it for 10. at 9:45 am I woke up independently.i got up did my bathroom business and then got dressed. came down stairs. checked my email, nothing to terribly exciting. checked my planner and found i don't need to leave until 11am. now. my choices are, 1. go lay down on the couch for 45 minutes or 2. continue to surf the net and read some blogs. it's going to be a loooong day. i like the idea of #1 the best I think. what would YOU do? (oh...and I went to bed at 1:30am.)

i did a good deed
i had to go to the a payment office to pay our electric bill today - that's always fun, ya know. but, while i was paying my bill over heard a pretty woman with dark silky hair be told that she couldn't pay her bill without her account number. she voiced that she would have to go home to get the bill. i had noticed this girl earlier in the parking lot as she was unloading her toddler child of out of the car into a stroller. i walked out behind her as she went out into the parking lot. as we stepped out the doors - she turned and looked at me as asked me if I had a cell phone. i said "yes - do you need to use it?" and she said "yes" as i mumbled something about having overheard her. she called her boyfriend; we waited as it rang and she mumbled something about him probably not answering it because of the unknown name on the caller id. I almost said something about what it should show up as, but since that's not even my real name that shows us (it's my boss') i kept my mouth shut as I smiled knowingly at her. He did answer and she asked him what the exact amount was and then for the account number. He said that he didn't have the bill with him - that she'd have to go home and get it. She thanked him and hung up, saying to me "he's useless, ya know." While smiling. She thanked me for the use of my phone and I said "hey - no problem, sorry it didn't help." Then she, and her young child, went back to their car. I went back to my car, Dante*, and drove home.

*Dante is our current car. an 88 Pontiac grand prix. he was preceded by Starr, Tallulah, Monty, and "little boy blue".
