say it ain’t so
The Mr. Q™ and I were talking last night about..well..lots of things. But the thing I am going to blog about is the topic of our first major world event memory. One of the first major world event we both remember was when the Kansas City Royals won the 1985 World Series {link}. I was 7 and he was 8. He remembers where he was when the Space Shuttle Challenger blew up on January 28, 1986 - I don't. He remembers Sally Ride's travel in space, and he remembers Regan being shot by John Hinckley, Jr ; which I don't remember either event. He's only a year older than me - but remembers far much more. It's crazy to think that there is a whole generation of people who's first major world event memory will be the 9-11 Attacks. I'm glad that my first major world event memory was a happy one. The entire town was in celebration - there were fireworks and all the fountains in the city were turned blue. I remember my dad jumping up down and shooting "Hurrah!" on the font porch. We watched the game on the TV; the four of us sitting around in our little two bedroom house all watching our beloved hometown team win the greatest award they could! I'm so lucky. What's your first major world event memory? Need memory assistance? Try this age gauge.

Cinco de Mayo
today is Cinco de Mayo which is, like John Stewart alluded to, the day when all Americans go to Mexican restaurants. no. in all seriousness - Cinco de Mayo [the fifth of May] is one of 2 days which commemorate the independence of Mexico. Although Mexico's official independence day is el Dieciseis de Septiembre [September 16th], Cinco de Mayo is also considered a day of great importance. I always think of it as my aunt Leo's birthday and my sorority sisters wedding date. I don't know if I will be celebrating today - in fact - I don't know that I've ever celebrated. But Happy Cinco de Mayo anyway!

the GG experience
seriously. i think we're going to have to change our phone number. i think we've been added to some massive list of numbers for surveys. i just finished up a 30 minutes survey about sports. i don't even WATCH sports. AND and AND I missed the last part of Gilmore girls for it too! damn! course it IS TiFaux'd so I can watch it later, but still. I don't like interrupting my Gilmore Girls experience.

here is what i see
i was reading something the other day about some crime or another and it occurred to me - the only dead bodies ive seen have been at funerals. and actually - ive only been to two funerals and I only remember one. my grandma's. she died when I was 14 after a long battle with bone cancer. ive never seen a "live" dead body. like a fresh one I mean. only pictures of them - and then of course a few on TV. i don't know how I would react if I just came upon a dead body or something. I'd prolly faint - since I don't react well to being scared - but I don't know. I guess it all depends on the state of decay of the body I guess.

on a totally unrelated note - I am too gimpy to find the remote and the Springer show is on. it really makes me feel better about myself that my husband wouldn't take me on national teevee to tell me he wanted to get all kinky with the help of a "psychic" in a white afro wig. lordy mordy.

20 rules to live by
ONE: Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
TWO: Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
THREE: Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
FOUR: When you say, "I love you," mean it.
FIVE: When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye.
SIX: Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
SEVEN: Believe in love at first sight.
EIGHT: Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.
NINE: Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
TEN: In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
ELEVEN: Don't judge people by their relatives.
TWELVE: Talk slowly but think quickly.
THIRTEEN: When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer,
smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"
FOURTEEN: Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
FIFTEEN: Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.
SIXTEEN: When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
SEVENTEEN: Remember the three Rs: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.
EIGHTEEN: Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
NINETEEN: When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps
to correct it.
TWENTY: Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.

the painful scream that i heard last
about six weeks ago I had a nasty time with my back. well today - I hurt it again. I don't even know how either. I was just standing in the potty at the YMCA and I just FELT it go. It was weird cause I had just been thinking about the last time it was hurt. It was about 2 weeks of pain before it finally just...went...away after getting some Aleve at the store. I've already had two Aleve today and it's not helped. This is the absolute worst time for this. We've got a visitor coming on Friday and then we're leaving on the 13th for a visit home. This house is a wreck and it totally needs to be cleaned from top to bottom. I can barely get up from the couch - let alone help clean anything. Sitting in the chair isn't too painful - neither is laying on the couch. too bad i can't do those round the clock. i just hoe it goes away in two days rather than two weeks. i don't think I can do two whole weeks of this agony again. just shoot me now.

TheBadOne™
I spied this entry over at idon'tthink about male strippers & it reminded me of the night I saw my first male stripper. It was at a surprise party for a gay friend of mine - It was a total riot. Not sexy in anyway whatsoever, but still a lot of fun. But this entry isn't about that night. It's about something totally different.

That night was also the first time I'd seen TheBadOne™ in over a year. Since he left town and broke my heart. This is the story of TheBadOne™.
