some kind of wonderful

I upgraded the poll thing.  This is a test of the new poll. It should email you, if you are a member, when you’ve voted.  Actually, you can only vote if you are a member on this poll.  That can change from poll to poll though. Course, none of this may work. We’re just testing it out :)

Did y’all get the emails?  I know at least 4 of you have voted so far! :)

This poll will close on 3.17.05

you suck!

I’m in a couple of discussion email lists, right?  So. Today I got that I just had to share!  All names either ommited or changed to protect and all that jazz. The email text follows.

wow, would that be the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Award for Humanitarian Contributions to the Health of Humankind, given for outstanding contributions for improving the health of humankind with a priority given to contributions in the area of infectious diseases that you are a finalist for, **** *****?

Holy Cow ****, some of the past recipients have been Bill and Melinda Gates, Ted Turner, Senator John D. Rockefeller, IV, David Satcher and of course, the Former President and First Lady themselves.  What fine company you would be in!  And I thought your specialty was labor relations.  I didn’t know you were also working on health issues.

All I could think was.  WOW.  That writer SO doesn’t care for that ****!  Either that, or she’s just brilliant in writing sarcasm!  Don’t you think?

that’s disgusting

Something is wrong with my feeds, apparently.  I am subscribed to myself (rss_atom) with bloglines and my feed is broken.  It’s been broken since I put in the new layout. I didn’t change the URL of the feeds so they should work ok though. this is the error that bloglines is giving me

The feed URL returns a page that does not look like an RSS feed. This can be caused by the feed URL being incorrect, or it can be caused by a configuration issue with the server hosting the feed. If this error continues, you should check the feed URL and, if it is wrong, subscribe to the correct URL.

Any help that any of you bloggers/blexers/readers could give me would ROCK! :)

All fixed! :) I guess bloglines just needed to burp itself! :)

you hesitated over the mention of a cat

Two possibilities.

1. I am too stoopid to understand “I heart Huckabees.”

2. “I Heart Huckabees” is too stoopid to be understood.

I don’t know if it’s worth it to stay awake and figure it out.

all right, crank it

I’m eating Salt & Vinegar potato chips right now.  This is a very interesting taste sensation.  I’m not sure that I really like the, but they are such a weird taste I can’t stop eating them.

I got another 1,000 pledge today at WMNF while answering phones. I got one Thursday too. That’s pretty exciting to take down a pledge for a grand.  Honestly though, just answering the phones is so much fun, that it’s just a super added bonus when I get to take a big pledge.  I actually started trying to talk people into giving MORE money today.  It worked 1/2 the time I tried it, so that was cool! :) I didn’t get too see/talk to that cutie guy person who I was hoping to, but it was fun anyway!

Yeah. I think that’s just about enough of the chips.  A little bit’ill do ya.  I’m ready for the double patch of brownies with chocolate chips.  Oh.  And some milk too. Then maybe after the hubby is done watching reruns of the Daily Show we can watch a movie.  We’ve got “I Heart Huckabees”, “Vanity Fair” & “Kill Bill Vol I.” I’m dying to watch a movie man. Dying.

a whole new look

Ao you might have noticed that it looks a little different around here today.  I’ve decided to wipe my site out and start fresh for validation.  Of course, I am assuming that this template, created for EE by Kathy of BlogMoxie is valid, but whatever.  It’s a nice template and I like it.  I may put skins back in, I might just start using one design at a time. I don’t know yet. Right now I am just trying to get my site to work like I want it to with this new template.  Some of the subpages aren’t set up the same, so they’ll look wonky.  But I’ve added the smilies to the comments*, so at least we’ve got those again! :) With my track record, I will get this layout all worked in and doing fine and then I will leave it.  For a looong time.  But at least it will look all cute and stuff in the mean time, right? :)

*I’ve still got that weird error going over there though.

Notice: Undefined variable: retVal in /home/fdfdas/public_html/fdsfsdfsd/core/core.functions.php(549) : eval()’d code on line 20

I’ve no idea how to fix it either. I tried over at the EE support forums, but never really got any help. If YOU might have some insight to what it’s freaking deal is, for the love all that is blog, PLEASE help me!

is that a girl?  yeah.  he’s playing a girl

Something is wrong with our phone at home.  There is no dial tone.  We’ve called Verizon and did the whole unplug everything and wait 10 minutes dance.  They are sending a tech out tomorrow.  I hope they come before it’s time for me to head down to WMNF.  I am answering phones again tomorrow.  I am signed up for the 2-5 block of time, which is the Alternative and the Latin Jazz & Salsa shows - but I might head in early for the 60’s show too.  Some people I’ve met along the way told me they are gonna be there for that show and I’d like to chat with them some more.  Ok.  One person. But whatever! ;) I tried to change the outgoing message on our phone, but after three tries I gave up. I just left it the way it was and figured I would just call and check the messages every once in a while. If they come tomorrow and can’t fix it, I will for sure change the message to reflect the broken-ness and to give my cell # as an alternative.

I got my hair cut today.  I asked for face framing layers. I got what I asked for. She didn’t touch the back at all, which I am so happy about! :) I am growing my hair out, and it’s healthy so it didn’t even need a trim. :) She used a razor in front and it’s just how I wanted it. I am surprised that she was able to do what I asked even though I was fairly vague about it. I found a picture in one of the hair books - you know the ones I’m talking about - but I chickened out and didn’t show her.  Hubby didn’t notice the difference until I pointed it out.  :) She noticed my greys when she was combing my hair. She sounded surprised about finding them - I guess I do really look younger than I am. Which is a good thing I guess :) I am nearly 27 and have been getting greys since sometime in 2002.  I color my hair, so they aren’t noticeable.  (For the record I was coloring my hair BEFORE I started to go grey.  The first time I colored it I was in 9th grade.) She also complimented me on how good I smelled. :) Today I am wearing vanilla bean lotion and brown sugar vanilla spray, both from Bath & Body Works.  (I can still smell me too - ooh I smell yummy! :) All in all I love the haircut.  I just don’t love the little itchy hairs that have somehow found their way all over my body.  I want a shower. :)

  • First We Take Manhattan - R.E.M
  • Get Off - Prince

tweakin, and NO I don’t mean what you think I mean

So, yeah. I’ve been thinking about code validation. It’s been suggested to me that I really need to fix up my css and HTML code.  It’s messy. I know.  It’s REALLY messy. Especially with all the nesting of php and skinning code I’ve going on in there. It’s a wonder the site actually works like it does, really. I’ve just never really cared.  I started trying to back validate my code yesterday.  It was taking forever, and I am sure that’s normal, but dayum!  I was thinking today that maybe a better idea would be to scrap my whole blog, basically, and start it over with validated code.  Then redo the skinning and the smilies and such.  That way I learn how to do it, fresh.  Back engineering is freaking hard, yo. But scrapping my whole site? Yeah. That sounds like a really good time.  Things could get really ugly. And I hate* ugly.  I mean - No skins, No smilies, No personalized Luka bits.  All that stuff would eventually make it back it, sure; but in the meantime? Crap.  Here’s where YOU come in?  I’ve made a poll. Won’t you vote?  Then - after you vote, could you post your thoughts about my dilemma in the comments? I’d love to hear how other bloggers would deal with this issue.

Hate is a strong word for that emotion really.  I just cannot deal with the site being ugly. Being broken; it makes me nutso.  And I need NO help with that emotion, that’s for sure.

I had to remove this poll. I only HAD to because I am a dumbass and uninstalled the poll module to upgrade it. Whoops.
