leif makes me smart
image
One day I was surfing through iStock Photo and I saw this image.  I just fell in love with it and just HAD to use it for a new skin. Tonight, after about 4 nights of working on it, and getting advice/tips from a few of my fellow Blexers, and you know who you are, I finished.  I had a little trouble porting the skin, but in the end it’s worked out. The new skin is called “Art Deco Pink” and it’s #21. Oh - yeah - at resolutions smaller than 1024 by 768 it may look bad.  (Course I’ve not checked it, so I don’t know.) If the skin looks really bad on your computer, or if it looks really good and you just wanna share it, please comment.  As you can see from the image it’s really more of an image driver design. And this one, THIS ONE, I did nearly all my myself! :) I’m just really proud of myself.  There was a lot of cursing of pixels too! I know the bottom looks weird, but I since the image is curved I can’t match it up exactly. I did my best though ;) Hopefully the hearts border will make it less noticeable. (Sometimes it’s worse than others though, that’s for sure.) I’ve worked hard on this skin, and while it’s not perfect, it’s by FAR the most complex layout I’ve ever done.  We loves it. But we loves all the skins when we first do them.

How about you?

Oh. and I fixed the missing image in my atom feed.  And updated it.  You like?

no kitty, bad kitty, those are my eggs

If fighting with Kaos about breakfast is any indication, today is going to be a trying day.

I am, though, nearly finished with a new skin I’ve been working on.  I think it’s turning out well.

drinks and clebrations

Right now I am very thirsty. Instead of drinking plain ole water, or milk or something worse like Soda - I am drinking iced tea. It’s Tetley ice tea, very lighty sweetened. Ooh it’s so good.  This is probably my fourth glass of iced tea. Ever. Man, it’s so good. I steeped it for like 4 and 1/2 minutes and sprinkled the pitcher with sugar. Yumm.

Battle of the Blog Battles take for fucking ever at this time of night! God damn!  (There should be some sort of time thingy - along with the vote count. That may help.) Man I’ve been staring at “8 votes left” for like 1/2 an hour. Fuck it. I’m going to bed!

I’ve booked my tickets for my trip home in Sept. See - My Grandmother (my mom’s mom) is turning 85 so we’re having a big ole (SUPRISE) party for her. I got tickets for 137, round trip! :) I fly out on the 1st, and fly back on the 7th. I am very excited! :) Lots of family to see too, coming in from all over. France, Denver, Mobile. Everywhere! :) Can’t Wait! :) (I haven’t seen my family, even my immediate family since Xmas.) The babies will be driving before I know it, man!

The very first strip club I was even in was called Erotic City. It’s a shitty one in Kansas City, right on the border with Independence. It’s a horrible strip club. Tiny, expensive, ad the girls are ugly. Nasty. I was hanging out with my cousin and her cousin on the other side - well her best friend had just died. So we were doing all this stuff to make this girl laugh and keep her mind off stuff. It work ok. I think what worked the best was alcohol. :)

Blogathon 2005
I officially signed up today for the Blogathon 2005 today.  I didn’t post about my involvement with the project this year until I could actually sign up, and since I did that this morning, and I’ve set a goal of $150 (which is $50 more than last year), I figured I needed to start to ask for pledges! :) This year I am going to blog for Amnesty International. I’ve not yet decided on a concrete theme, but I may ask for user submitted topics/and or photos.  At least if I sue one of the themes I was thinking about last week.  So. What I need from you?!? A pledge. the minimum pledge is 1.00. I am aiming for $150 by the end of the ‘Thon. (Right under countdown to the ‘Thon in the “navigation” side bar there will be a running total of pledges.) The way it works is you pledge the money on the Blogathon site, and then when the even is over you send your money directly to Amnesty International. (They do offer a way to pay by mail if you don’t want to give your CC details online.) No CC info is required to sponsor, since we don’t need any of that info.  Make Your Pledge Here!

As for why I chose to blog for Amnesty International.  I have no concrete reason for choosing Amnesty International other than just wanting to pick a charity that does a great deal of good, and that is also not specifically political.

Amnesty International is a worldwide campaigning movement that works to promote all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards. In particular, Amnesty International campaigns to free all prisoners of conscience; ensure fair and prompt trials for political prisoners; abolish the death penalty, torture and other cruel treatment of prisoners; end political killings and “disappearances”; and oppose human rights abuses by opposition groups.

Please let me know if you have any comments, questions, concerns about my participation in the 2005 Thon. Or any you have about Sponsoring me! :)

the funniest line all night

Let me set the scene. I’m at the computing BLEX’in and snacking. Hubby is flipping thru the channels on the tv.  Now, for the setup. I heard some dialouge on the tv that sounded like Shakespeare and I turned to look. I watched for a few seconds and then asked hubby if it was Shakespeare.  He laughed and said no.  I listened a little more and I was sure it was Shakespeare. I asked hubby again, and again he said No. I turned away again and something else caught my ear a few seconds later. It was something about a father and his daughter and her following some guy like a slave.  I was again sure it was fucking Shakespeare. I asked AGAIN, and hubby laughed at me.  Then showed the guide desc. He was fucking watching Conan the Barbarian. Yeah. The one from 1982. With Gov Arnie.  Hubby laughed, I laughed. I made fun of the movie and for him for watching it. Teasingly. Cutesy like I do.  :) Hubby said to me :

Honey, what’s that say about you if you were so sure it was Shakespeare? I am still giggly about it too.

Updated to add :
In my defense I hadn;t SEEN arnie yet when I was still thinking it was Shakespeare. Just one old white guy and an oldly dressed daughter. I didn’t think Arnie was doing Shakespeare! :)

sandman bring me a dream

So our complex is going some renovations to the outsides of our apts. They’re replacing columns and apparently staircases.  They’ve been banging with hammers and using saws right outside our window since about 7:30 this morning.  I’ve been a little under the weather the lat couple of days, and being woken up at 7:30 am with hammers and saws - not really pleasant on ANY day let alone one where I just want to keep sleeping.  I though I’d move to the couch, but yeah - that didn’t help so much. The noise is just as loud down here.  I guess I’m up.  I can’t understand how my husband is still sleeping up there.  Of course now that I have fully committed to being awake - it seems they’ve taken a break. I understand it’s best to do things in the morning down here, but it would have been nice to have some notice that there would be men outside out bedroom making a helluva racket in the early am.  Oi.  There were out yesterday banging on stuff in the FRONT of the apt while I was trying to nap. I just can’t win. I think they are replacing the stairs back there.  I guess they needed that. Or whatever. :)
