I think it’s pretty sad that every memory that I have of summers growing up involves moving. When you’re in a military family, you tend to spend a lot of time on the road, and when you’re in the Canadian military, that tends to happen during the summer. So summer for me represents losing friends and changing places and packing and unpacking and being stuck in a car with my younger sister for nine days. Don’t get me wrong—there are some great memories in there, as well. Learning to swim in hotel pools, visiting the Badlands in South Dakota, driving through the Rocky Mountains. But the bad tends to outweigh the good in my head.
Of course, now I’m an adult and summers and winters tend to blend into each other. It’s different when you’re a kid and summer means freedom and vacation. When you’re an adult, it’s just one long season of work.
It’s summer, it’s Friday, and less than nine hours till the weekend. Whoo!
So let’s see… summer memory. When I was little, I walked a lot. My best friend and I would spend hours each day walking around our neighborhood. “Around the block”, is what we’d call it. We had a little corner deli, a playground (conveniently located next to our volunteer ambulance corp), a candy shop, and of course, our houses were within the vicinity.
We’d walk, and we’d talk. About everything, about nothing. I was skinnier then, I was tanner then, and heck if I know why we have to ruin everything by growing up, gaining weight, and becoming translucent beings behind a computer screen ;)

My favorite recipe depends on the season. For summer, it would be Caribbean Sweet Potato Salad that I found on allrecipies.com. I skip the chopped peanuts.
Recipe in the extended entry.

Favorite summer memory?
Cricket at the Adelaide Oval, every year going to hopefully five days of cricket, packing the esky, sunscreen, hat, book, jacket and lining up at 7.30am for a game that starts at 11. Eating continuously and watching cricket.
OK, try this - if you don’t like it, it’s not my fault - LOL
Grilled BBQ Pizza

2 tbsp. olive oil
1/2 lb cooked sausage (cut into 1/2 inch pieces)
1 C assorted grilled vegetables
6 oz shredded colby jack cheese
optional 1 tsp basil
optional 1/4 tsp dry pepper flakes
Preheat your grill. Oil grill rack for best results.
Roll out your dough to a 12x15 rectangle.
Brush with olive oil.
Place oil side down on grill rack.
Cover & grill for about 3 min or until bottom is lightly brown.
Punch down the air bubbles, if needed.
Brush top side with olive oil & turn over.
Immediately top with vegetables…
Cover & cook for 3 more minutes or until cheese is melted.
Can change the sausage to whatever meat you want… and add any toppings you’d like.
Enjoy,

hi. i’m tracy. i own everymoment.org.... and i will now impart pearls of wisdom to you. (oh wait… that’s just a part of my tooth. nevermind)
i have had a ton of great sumer time memories… but i think my favorite sumer time memories would have to be from last year.
i was traveling with a music team for a full year, and around this time last year, we were hanging out with a bunch of little kids at different churches ‘vbs’ weeks (or ‘vacation bible school’)… and i was terrified of spending a week with little kids running around. since i was an only child, i never grew up around little kids. i have a feeling that is why i’m not so much of a “little kid” person. however these cute little kids just pried their way into my heart. i had fun making faces at them and giving them piggy back rides. one girl in particular was just the sweetest thing EVER! she even made me a card and gave it to me the last day of the week.
i still have that card.
Hello lady from upstairs. Please be quiet cause we are trying to sleep down here and you walking while wearing high heels is not helping :P
So my FFAF entry for today is a recipe, a Greek one (DUH)
Stuffed Peppers with cheese
INGREDIENTS
* Green long peppers
* Cheese (feta, kaseri, kefalotyri)
* Chopped parsley
* Paprika
* 1 egg
* Salt
* Pepper
METHOD
Cut the top of the peppers. Grate all the kinds of cheese and mix them together. Beat the egg and pour it over the cheese mixture. Dredge salt, pepper, parsley and paprika and mix. Stuff each pepper with the mixture and fry them softly. Drain them or use an absorbing paper to absorb the oil.
As an alternative you can bake them in a heat proof pan adding first some oil, like the peppers in the picture, which are baked and not fried. Serve hot or cold.
Enjoy
