I just saw the most irresponsible thing ever. Brian Andrews of WFOR, while reporting on Katrina on CNN, he caught a piece of what looked like iron, about a foot of it, and when he was ready to back inside - he let it go. He let the 1ft long piece of IRON go, in a hurricane! Uhm. Hello. You’re supposed to secure things DOWN during a hurricane. Fuck. You even secure the PATIO furniture so it don’t become projectile weapons. Did you know that hay can be imbeded into trees during hurricanes? I wonder what h happened with a 1st long piece of iron is blown around at 100mph. Apparently Brian Andrews’ brain was blown around too much - maybe he needs to just stay inside. Fucking moron.
I guess the VMA’s were last night, EVERYBODY freakin watched them. I didn’t watch them. I did watch a shit ton of Katrina coverage and it’s making me so sad and scared. My grandparents live in Baton Rouge, and my aunt and uncle from Paris are supposed to fly into Baton Rouge tomorrow, so that they can spend a few days there before they fly to KC on Friday to spend the weekend with my family there (and me) for Grandmothers 85th birthday. Not to mention that New Orleans is my second favorite city in the world (Right behind Kansas City.) I spent my honeymoon there too. I haven’t seen any pictures yet, I’m almost scared to look for them. The French Quarter - gone?! The thought of that just scares the bejezuz outta me. Add into that a little guilt for making jokes about Katrina and her power, and you’ve got one veklehmpt Luka.
But, as a bright spot, in an otherwise gloomy day : I found out that my “pita” client - the one who makes me the craziest, which is saying a lot - officially has a new company to support him. I’m meeting with the lady on Wednesday to transfer the file/monies and then I’m done. That is like “the BEST news”! It means he’s got a new start coming, which is something he sorely needs. It means my stress level can go down some, which is something, well, I at least, need. And it means that when I go on vacation I can rest easy. There’s nothing ugly hanging over my head about work and I’m all set! Since I can’t go into all the details - something about HIPPA and his privacy or whatever :) - you’ll just need to understand that this client is a challenge to work with. With a Capital C. And having him move on, without having to move on with him, is the just the best news ever.
But, better news would be that all my family is safe and where they’re supposed to be. Since I’ve also got family in Mobile and they were evac’d in their car and their camper. My aunt, her husband, and her 5 children (ages 6 to 17.) All I know so far about them is that they’re on the road in their two vehicles and will less us know more when they can.
As much as a love a lazy Sunday - sitting around in mah pj’s doing nothing - today can’t be one of those days. Yesterday one of the lights in our living room burned out, so it was sorta dark in here. Today the other one did. There is absolutely no light in this room. Yes there is some glow from the confuser, which is what I am suing to see with right now, which I HATE doing. But that’s all the light there is. I’ve searched and there are no light bulbs in the house. I used the last one the other day for one of two lights that went out on the stairs. It seems I need a plethora of lights. Which means, I must wear clothes other than my pj’s and go out into the world to spend money. Another thing I am loathe to do. I mean, come on. I got dressed and went out yesterday too. Don’t I get ONE day where I can actually do nothin’?
First I need to get this nail polish off my left hand. I put it on last night to see how it would look with my short nails - I while I do sort of like it, I think I should either take it off OR paint the right hand and after all the issues I had painting the LEFT the second option is the much better of the two. Think anyone will notice if I just have my my two big toes paints hot pink/red and the rest of my toes were bare? Decisions, decisions. I think the best place, for me, to shop for light bulbs is at Home Depot. Cause the temptation is also buy other things is limited there. I will just get the light bulbs and get out. If I got to Target or Satan’s Five & Dime other things will catch my eye, and not nesecarily things I need. I’m bad like that. But I’m going on a trip Thursday and need to pinch my pennies until then. That way, I can go hog wild while there. Or as much as I can with a debit card, ya know! :) So. 1, nail polish, 2 shower and clothes, 3 shopping. That about sums it up.
