10 years ago: At 28 years old, Bonnie was back at college after a 9-year hiatus. I took a couple of classes during the summer and this was my first full semester. I change my major from Accounting/CIS to Construction Management. It was odd being one of four females and the oldest student in the department. My schedule was hectic because I still worked full-time and maintained two households. I went to school Monday through Thursday, comuted 90 miles to home and work, then worked 13 hour days on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
10 yrs ago I would have just moved to orlando, and well to be frank would have just lost my viginity.I was sining karoke at least 5 nights a week and working for Fazoli’s, and Kmart, basically having the time of my life. I was outgoing then and had many people around me who just brought out the bad girl.
5 yrs ago I would have just broken up with my boyfriend and had begun the interview process to work for Disney. At the time I would have been working for a temp agency at the local college and still trying to make ends meet, but making it none the less.
1yr ago I was comtempling leaving Disney(which I did), I had overcome one of my worst fears and flown on an airplane, and I finally began getting my life in order for the fist time, and can now say that I am on the right track.

10 years ago: 8.25.95. I was 17. I was about to start my senior year of HS. I was single and working at “Around the World in 80 days Amusement Park.” I hadn’t yet met ”the bad Steve” or the man who would be my husband. (Although he also worked at that amusement park.) I didn’t have a blog, or even an email address. I did ocassionaly keep a diary to write my feelings down. I knew I wanted to go to NW - but hadn’t applied yet. I hung out most with a girl who’s name I can’t remember. I was crushing on a guy named Adam and a guy everyone called Wolff. (He wasn’t hairy - it was his last name. His first name was something really REALLY common like Chris, I think.) Things were very awkward between me and my most recent boyfriend. We had slept together (1st time each) back in May and it didn’t make us closer. We never officially broke up, just stopped talked to each other. He ALSO worked at “Around the World in 8o days Aumustment Park.” He was also in the operations department (we ran the rides.) We ever never on the same crew, but with about 150 kids in the whole dept - word got around pretty fast about how awkward things were. Since everyone knew we were dating when I started working there. NOT to mention that even the upper mg MT peeps knew about it. His older brother was a Supervisor - of which there were about 15. They were the echelon of cool. And while they didn’t have a BAD opinion of me - the boys were sort of given the “hands off vibe” from older bother and ex boyfriend - so I was mostly ignored. (I was told this years later by the way. At the time I though everyone just didn’t like me.) I spent my days working in the hot HOT summer of Kansas City. I was working, still as I had been all summer, at the same ride complex. A med size adult ride and 4 kiddy rides. I saw more kids than adults, and I liked it. The med adult ride wasn’t a coaster but it was inside so people couldn’t see it. If I was at the queue I spent my time answering questions ABOUT the ride. If I was inside the first set of doors, same thing, only I was FREEZING since they kept it a zillion degrees below zero in there. I’d put on my sweatshirt (white) and sweat pants (black) while in there. I would get the weirdest looks. If I was inside the third set of doors I didn’t speak too much cause I’d be driving the ride. If I was loading people then I’d tell em to put their sealtbet on, and tell them to keep their hands inside. Then I’d signal to the driver to run. If I was the driver, I’d turn the key, hit the go button, then on the “gas pedal.” If the ride ran normally, the light would go off at the end and that was my signal to take my foot off the brake. I an automatic shutdown. If i had to e stop the ride, I would just take foot off the pedal and it would go into its automatic shut down after the ride shut down. Then I’d get to use the microphone to tell people why it stopped. (I would have already warned the, but seeing as there was a sounds track to the ride, no one could hear me.) Wow. That was long. I remembered a lot from 10 years ago. I could go on too, but I’m willing to bet you’d rather I , not! :)
5 years ago: 8.25.00. I was 22. I was getting ready to start my last semester in college. I was working in a lame ass temp job doing filing in this ridiculous insurance office. I was engaged and wearing a beautiful ring, but didn’t have a wedding date or a job, or know anything about what would happen after December. I didn’t have a car either. I hadn’t yet started to blog. I would start to blog in about 3 months. I had a “website” that was just static content. I tweaked it’s design constantly, but the content rarely changed. (I’d started doing that in 1997.) I was really looking forward to getting back to school. I was going g to be living in the brand new complex that had just been finished over the summer. (There were summer school kids in the rooms over the summer, so I wasn’t the first resident of the room.) I hated my job. I had done an internship for the first part of the summer (150 hours), after a month of summer school at NW. I was working in a shitty temp job doing filing and organization of insurance papers. I did run across some names I recognized, and that was cool. I was sort of 1/2 half ass planing my wedding - without having a clear date. Basically I was thinking about what I’d want, made some calls about renting a tent at one point. I made my guest list, started to gather all the names, all the addresses. That damn list was the most constant thing. Well - other than the attendants and the bride and groom. I knew that my best friend, Monkey, and his best friend Geoff would be standing next to us. I also knew that my best friend from HS (who was engaged to be married to the boyfriend I mentioned in my 10 years ago story) - also was going to stand next to me. She was there when I got engaged. I hadn’t met Monkey when I got engaged, but the woman’s my best friend in the world. Was then, is now. She was the only person to fill my maid of honor spot. Hubby knew Geoff would stand by him. They’d been best friends since 1st grade. Roommate in college, and they got their first apartment together. They lived together until hubby and I got married and moved to Florida. The 2nd man was always going to hubby’s brother too. I feel badly that I made my Monkey stand with her ex-fiance (Geoff) but that couldn’t be helped. Honestly. I didn’t have a date, but I had all the players. I was feeling freaked out about all of this, but excited to be back at school. I loved living in Maryslande City and loved being on campus. I also loved being in Sorority. (I’m going to see some Sorority girls in about 2 weeks and I’m freaking thrilled!!) It was going to be my last semester as an active and I was looking forward to it. I was the web master/designer/sole coder as well as the Secretary this semester. I loved being an active and was ready to get back to it.
1 year ago: 8.25.04. I was 26. I was at the same job I’m in now. I was in the same apartment. Married to the same wonderful man, but with only one pet. We didn’t get Kaos for about 6 more months. I had the same URL. I was planning the first ever Tampa Bay Blogger Fest. (By the way - were starting that up again soon. Got a new URL and everything.) I was looking forward to a visit home in November instead of Just One Week!
Yesterday: After all that, are you kidding. I don’t remember yesterday.
I forget know where I saw this too. There’s more to THAT meme, but I’m only doing this part.
Please Pardon the dust in the comments. I am adding in the new css code to the skins one by one, b ut the only ones I’ve finished so far are the default and the new skin Rainbow Pinwheels. For now, you’re just going to have to deal with it. The comments still WORK on all those skins, they just look really bad. I’ll get it all fixed eventually! :)
Oh L’amour, Art Deco Pink , Girl With Drink and Stolen Pictures have all got the good comments! :)
All skins have now been fixed! :) So if you notice anything amiss, please PLEASE let me know! :)
Please! If you are a member, go edit your avatar! I just added a whole mess of ones you can choose from. There’s not excuse for having the boring old default avatar! :) Also - add a signature. Pick a quote, any quote, put it in there. You don’t need to link your site cause your name already does that, but quotes are fun! :)
Yesterday I had some time to kill while waiting to meet with someone so I headed to the Library. I also had to return some books - so it was a natural fit. I picked up 4 books tonight. The one I am most excited to red - The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Philosophy. My husband is a Philosophy graduate student. He’s starting his 5th year next week. Most of our friend are also Philosophy Grad students, or taking it/took it as undergrad. Most of social gathering involved lots of talk about Philosophy. Sometimes I feel a little left out in those discussions because while I may understand the concepts, I don’t have all the lexicon and with these guys it makes it hard to keep up. A lot of times I just don’t join in. I do something else. I flit around, or I get on a laptop. I always joked with hubby that I should read The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Philosophy - since I’m an idiot that needs to learn some shite about Philosophy. Granted - he’s a teacher, and so are most of our friends; but in my experience friends don’t make good teachers. Besides - it’s hard to get an word in edgewise when you don’t know that the fuck anyone’s talking about. I always joked with the hubbster I should get this book - but I didn’t know this book actually existed until today. After I picked it up I read the 1st chapter and realized that I was gonna need to take notes. On the way home after meeting with that person I stopped at a CVS. I got a little 1/2 size notebook - a pink jelly one. I also got a purple precise pen. I love writing what that sort of pen. Plus - pink and purple just GO - ya know?!? This way I get cute new stuff AND I get to learn something. It’s a win/win in my book.
Now. These. These are easier. I think.
- What X Files spinoff demonstrated that three geeks were not very interesting by themselves? The Lone Gunman. First guessed correctly by Amber.
- What couple’s unborn child was offered $10 million to play in the 2017 A&P Tennis Classic?
- What S-word denotes a creature that tends to munch on dead animals or a predator’s leftovers? Scavenger. Dizzy Scorpio was first with this answer.
- What Muppet interviewed Hulk Hogan and Socks the Cat, while hosting Larry King Live? Kermit the Frog. Dizzy Scorpio was first with this answer.
- Who, when asked about insider-trading allegations on CBS’s Early Show, snapped : “I just want to focus on my salad”? Martha Stewart. Dizzy Scorpio was first with this answer.
- What bacteria-chomping larvae, according to surgeon John Church, “can get in o the nooks and crannies that antibiotics can’t reach”? Maggots. First guessed correctly by Amber.
Now, I can’t tell if you can cheat by using Blingo or Google, but YOU can. So. When you make your guess I will assume that it means you didn’t cheat. Thanks! It’s an honour system of sorts.
