save the tatas!
So this year, just like the past 4 years, during the first week of October I find myself looking at hundreds of boobie shots! Oh, not because I’m all porn obsessed or anything, but because it’s the Boobiethon!  This is the 5th year! - can you believe it 5 years! - for the Boobiethon, and already Robyn and her gang of merry miscreants have raised $2305.00 (last update at 8:10 p.m. EDT on 10/02/06)! And That’s just since the start of the event on the 1st at 12:01am EDT.  Seriously! Check it out. Submit a picture, donate some money - whatever you gotta do, do it! ;-) Boobies are important, yo! :-)

a tribute to William “Billy” Bernstein
image
Five years ago today a man named William Bernstein 44, of New York, N.Y. died in the attacks. Billy, as his friends and family called him, worked in the World Trade Center as a mortgage bond broker. He was by all accounts a great guy. He was funny, and he was compassionate. He was a guy you could “live your most embarrassing moment in front of, and still laugh about it.” I don’t know much about Bill’s family, but I do know that he was a twin.  Bill was described as” funny and super nice. He kinda was like the infamous ‘nice guy’ that you’d want to marry someday.” The world lost a “good one” that day, and today I honor him and his memory. Billy, as I like to think of him as well, has been honored several places on the web. 9-11 Heros, and Terrorist Attack.com. Much of the information I obtained for this tribute was information from September 11 Victims. Billy was a guy I would have had in my family, and I sincerly hope that his actual family is doing well. I hope that they can remember him with fondess and laughter, and not sadness and rage at how he was taken from them.  Billy died on September 11th 2001, but will forever be in my heart and memory, and on this blog.

a tribute on 911
image
I’ve been meaning to blog about this for a while now.  I just never could find the right words. I felt it was time to write about it, but still couldnt find the right words. SO, I’m just copying his. (The creator of the site D Challener Roe.

2,996 is a tribute to the victims of 9/11.

On September 11, 2006, 2,996 volunteer bloggers will join together for a tribute to the victims of 9/11. Each person will pay tribute to a single victim.

We will honor them by remembering their lives, and not by remembering their murderers.

If you would like to help out, either by pledging to post a tribute on your own blog, or by offering your services to promote this cause, just leave a comment here and I’ll email you the name of a victim.

Then, on 9/11/2006, you will post a tribute to that victim on your blog.

But, and this is critical, the tributes should celebrate the lives of these people–kind of like a wake. Over the last 5 years we’ve heard the names of the killers, and all about the victim’s deaths. This is a chance to learn about and celebrate those who died. Forget the murderers, they don’t deserve to be remembered. But some people who died that day deserve to be remembered-2,996 people.

I’ve signed up and already recieved my name. Maybe you want to as well. http://www.dcroe.com/2996/

sometimes you just gotta let people live

Well, won’t cha just go and look at that. It’s 06.06.06. Ooooh. I’m all skeered. The Devil’s a comin to take me away. Or some shit. Whatever. I’ve never believed in the Devil so I’m not terribly afraid of him today, or any other day for that matter. I haven’t really seen anyone too up in a bother about it though, so that’s good. Sort of like this whole Marriage Amendment The Shrub is trying to get passed. Cause yeah, I’m really threatened that my friends Karina and Jackie wanna get married. That’s truly what’s important today. That we keep people who WANT to get married from getting married just cause they’s is Gay. Oh dear god; not THE GAY. Whatever shall we do? Ooooh. That;s right. Mind our own fucking business. :-) Novel concept, I know. I don’t know a single person who cares about banning homosexual marriage. Not a single one. And I know a lot of freaking people. Every blog I’ve read today has been a lot like what I’m writing here. Some more eloquent, as usual. ;-) But, it remains the same. Like being freaking out about the date today, people get all a twitter about shit that ain’t none of their business. (Oh, and as for my particular vernacular today, I’ve been reading Getting Mother’s Body by Suzan-Lori Parker over the last couple of days. It’s written, for lack of a better word, in a lot of Ebonics. It took some getting used to, but now it’s in my “voice”. I haven’t been talking this way, but I sure as fuck been thinking it this way. The book is pretty good so far actually. I’m over half way done with it.) Ugg. Fucking George Bush. He hasn’t known what was important his whole life, why should I expect him to get it now? I mean, this is the same man that thinks his imaginary friend actually TALKS to him. :-)

crazy people tuesday

i know it’s a clip from Fox News, but who else would have this total and complete nut job on their network? Shirley Phelps Roper daughter of Fred Phelps and member of the Westboro Bapstist Church.  She’s fucking insane, apparently. I mean, seriously. “If you do not obey the Lord your God....” It’s disturbing. I can’t believe that I actually agree with Hannity and Colmes. She’s absolutely fucking insane! That woman has been brainwashed since she was a young child. I almost feel sorry for her.  Almost. I could go on an on about how she’s wrong and how ridiculous her views are. But I’m sure you already know that. :-) Or at least you will after you watch this video.

happy now, but you don’t see it

Recently I’ve found myself becoming increasingly enamored with all things, well, Celebrity.  Now, I’ve been a long time reader of Wil Wheaton, and while he IS a celebrity (and really freaking cool!) that’s not exactly what I mean. I mean like Celebrities, with a capital C.  Their comings, their goings, their silly couple names. It all started with Perez Hilton and then I also started to read Pink is the New Blog. Reading blog about celebrities is way easier, and much more addicting than watching TV shows about celebrities. Which is why I think Vh1 got their show Best Week Ever a brand NEW blog this week! Not only do I get all the hot celebrity gossip I want(need) but I get to vote in silly polls (upgrade/downgrade) and can even submit cool things that I’ve found on line.  (Not that I ever find anything cool someone else hasn’t already found first.) They’ve got TV gossip too, so it’s not just the celebrity gossip type stuff. I think I’ve got all the Celebrity (i almost think I need a TM sign there or something) I can handle now. I think I’m all set. Lather, rinse, repeat.

i talk shit, just deal with it

P!nk, that glorious songstress with the pink tresses, has a new album out. It’s called “I’m not Dead” and it’s got several great tracks on it. Now, I’ve been a fan of P!nk since her first album - “Can’t Take me Home” which was released in 2000.  (Her other two albums - M!sundaztood and Try This! are also great.) I’ve purchased several tracks from this album already, via iTunes.  Alecia Moore, P!nk’s given name, is a real talent. And that woman’s got brass balls.  One of the tracks on her new album is called Dear Mr President. It’s a powerful message to our beloved leader teh Shrub.  “How can you say / No child is left behind / We’re not dumb and we’re not blind” I get all tingly when I just listen to the song, but I was totally blown away when I saw video of a version she did live in NYC. I saw it posted up on You Tube*. It’s fucking amazing. Check it out.

*Technically I saw it posted on Perez‘s blog first.
