I started the day at $330. My goal was $500. I wasn’t confident that I will be able to raise that much in one day. I was worried/nervous about my live broadcast that was in just under three hours. I was worried about having enough time to get everything done and to stay sane! ;-) Which is how I usually feel on Blogathon Day, so it was normal!
The first of the six number of Trivia games was held at 9:30est. Bonnnie won that one and choose a notebook. I was getting a lot of audiences participation and it was invigorating! I had more of theme games throughout the day. Game Two, Game Three, Game Four, Game Five and Game Six. There were Five Winners. Anniebee, Kentucky Girl, Utopia, Laci, Pandora! They all choose notebooks!
At 10:30am est, my 4th post, I launched into DJ mode and posted 2 music tracks. I posted them via Hipcast, so peopel could listen to right on the blog and not how to download anything. Also this way I’m not *actually* file sharing. I’m going to have to take them down eventually - but I want to make sure everyone who WANTS to hear them gets to first! ;-) I posted Walk Right in by Dr Hook and Dance, Motherf**ker, Dance by the Violent Femmes. I did music all day long. {link} I posted some more music a little later too. {link} I tried reminding people of the babe at 6:30am, {link} My second to last post at 8:30am est was also one where I posted some music to share. Music *Perfect* for that time of day. Wicked early and after a loooong nite! ;-) {link}
I did another set of Trivia Games, where the prize was just a link in my sidebar. People seemed to love to play those games too! There were XX of those. The first of which was at 11:30am EST. {7:30pm} {11:30pm} {3:30am} {7am}
At Noon I went Live! There was some major confusion first about who people were listening to. But I didn’t have a whole lot of trouble broadcasting! I was using Winamp and Shoutcast. The loverly WebKittyn had spent countless hours with me online helping me get that software working! I wouldn’t have been able to get it done without her! I totally had the best time doing that show! ;-) I really hope that it’s something I get to do again!
At Noon :30 it was the first of my 5 guest posts. Pandora made it and she posted some pretty cool music. {link} I had several other guest posters. Instead of having time off while there were posting here, I was posting at their blogs too. I wanted to break things up, and I think people had fun! :-) Those posts {pandora} and {laci} and {webKittyn} and {katie} and {yoshi}
At 1:30pm est it was the last 30 min of my radio show and I decided to do something a bit silly. I posted asking for people to ask my Magic 8 ball questions. {link} I then asked those questions to the 8ball live during my radio show. That was totally fun! So much so in fact I did it again later with an audio post instead. {link} Oooh. A third one? {link}
At 2:30pm est I did the first of my Music Games, that really didn’t go over so well. ;-) I farked up the first one anyway, messing up the songs and titles. I think I forgot something, or whatever. {link} The second game went a little better - it was a easier set up though! :-) {link} Another music game at 5am. {link} The very last of the Music Games was a wicked version of Tv Theme song! ;-) {link}
At 6pm est something very special happened. My friend The Pajama Mama made a guest post. It was touching, and beautiful. She even posted the most beacutiul pictures of her children. She has three, a son and two daughters, Drama Child and Little Bit, who both have Down Syndrome. I was fortuate that she agreed to make the post, it’s really great! {link}
At the halfway mark - I got a little silly. As Usual! :-) {link} I played DJ and posted TWO “Theme Songs” and a remix! :-) At Midnight I switched layouts and posted some music tracks. All three called “Midnight”. {link} At 4am I also got a little silly, and also a little confused, and posted some “interesting” music”. {link} At the time of my VERY last actual Thon day post I had raised 374$. I deicded to add 26 in of my own monies to make to total an even $400! I just couldn’t leave it OFF like that! {link} I was also REEEEALY tired! I laid down for about a 4 hour nap and then went into work. :-) I really didn’t get back into regular postin...well. I still haven’t. But, hopefully with this post, and the next I start changing that too.
I couldn’t, I wouldn’t have made it through this day, this 24 hour day of every 30 minute postingg, and monitoring and group blogging, without all of the people who stuck around here all Day! Seriously! Every single commenter, every single sponsor! I thank you *ALL* from the bottom of my wee heart! Thanks for making my experince this year so Wonderful, and in turn helping me raise $400 for the National Down Syndrome Society.
There are 351 days and 2 hours until Days Until Blogathon 2007!
I’m not sure when I first knew when the Blogathon was being held July 29th, but I know when I first started to blog about it. June 7th 2006. Back when I was thinking about blogging for the NORML Foundation. {link} I decided against doing that Charity this year for lots of reasons. Mostly because I figured I wouldn’t be able to get a lot of support for such a fringe group. Maybe another year. :-) I had trouble choosing a charity this year. After doing some research I decided on The Arc of Greater New Orleans, {link} but unfortunately I never heard back from anyone there about being able to Donate Via the Network For Good. One of the requirement’s is that your Charity take online donations and the Arc-Gno didn’t, so without knowing whether they would accept donations via that alternate route I had to choose a new Charity. I decided on The National Down Syndrome Society, and started asking for sponsors on July 3rd 2006. {link}
In years past I had started the begging earlier, so I was worried about my ability to make my goal. My first goal was set at $250. Then I got a wild hair and decided to raise the Goal to $500! Last year I raised $250 for Amnesty International which was also the highest I’d ever raised. A wild hair or three later I had a goal of $500 and a brand new look to go with this years Blog. {link} I actually ended up doing two layouts for the Blog. The first being a SpongeBob Square Pants layout. {link} I used spongebob squarepants as a homage to the inside joke of the theme song being The SpongeBob Square Pants Theme. I showed that layout off before the thon, but I still had one little trick up my sleeve. I made an After Midnight skin to swtich to at midnight (EST) and people really seem to like it! They choose that skin over the other to be on the category archive that I’ve set up.
Still before the Thon I got notebooks to give away during the Trivia games and also a Build a Teddy Bear to give away. (There were 5 winners - so I got to keep one of the notebooks too!) Another give away, that was graciously donated by Rachel, was a Designers Choice Blog Template. Pandora won that, but since she’d won two others during the thon she offered it back to to use on the Free for All Friday site, which is exactly what we’re doing!
Ok. Since this is starting to devolve into Actual Thon Stuff, I’m going to stop this one here. I’m going to write a second post - the 2006 blogathon experience; During the Blogathon
wow. i started working on a post called “the 2006 blogathon experience” today. I’ve worked on it for an hour already, linking and what not, and I’m not even halfway done! Aiii! It’s coming people, I swear! :-)
(sometimes I have to laugh at my arrogance. like any of you care that i haven’t written one yet! lol)
I am trying to decide which of my two blogathon layouts to use for the permanent Blogathon 2006 thread. I am not sure if everyone saw them so I’m including a lil square snap of them at the end of this post. Currently, the layout us the aftermidnight one, with the posts starting from the begining. That’s how I plan to leave the posts, but I am not sure which layout I should use. So, I am taking a poll. Tell me, which one would YOU use? I can only use one because of the way it’s set up - I can’t skin this bit, or use a switcher to use both of the skins. Otherwise I’d have done that! :-) Yay. Ok, pick one! :-)

I’ve printed the numbers, I’ve cut them up. Now I’m just waiting on the batteries to charge so that I can take pictures of the drawing! Think good thoughts if you want to win the Teddy Bear!
So, somebody asked me about Penny the Bear. Yes, we still need to do/take picture of her raffle. But, there are LOADS more entries for that so I’m going to print them out rather than hand write them. And since I don’t have a printer I have to go to the library. I plan on doing that tomorrow. I really appreciate your patience! ;-) Yay! Other than that, we’re good. ALl the notebooks have been claimed, and the template too. The trivia games haven’t been updated yet - but one thing at time. ;-) I just can’t deal with the computer right now. Mine’s running slow like molasses (again) and husband isn’t as willing to share his laptop now that the Bloga is over. Which, I totally TOTALLY, understand. Heck, now that the Bloga is over I don’t even WANT to be at the computer that much. The whole week before the thon I was doing stuff, ripping music, putting games together. Allll my free time went into doing the Thon, and I’m just internecked out. At least for the next couple of days. :-) But, I’m still working on a Re-Cap post, and a Trivia Reveal post. I’m gonna link all the trivia games and post all the answers. :-)

So, I asked my magic 8 ball if I could go to sleep, right. It said “Signs point to yes” Yay! I am totally going to bed now! Thanks to ALL of you for helping me raise 374$ for the National Down Syndrome Society! After a (relatively) short nap I will be back to write a proper End of Thon post! TO those of you who’ve won notebooks, Don’t worry the comments are there, we’ll get everything squared away! Drawings for both the Teddy BEar and the Free template won’t be done until after the Sabbath schedule is over, or when I come back to posting. Whichever takes longer! ;-)
