friendship

This is what HE said. I won’t say who HE is, because that’s not the point. It’s what he SAID that is.

For all of those who claim to be my friend, you are unable to be friends both with me and my ex-girlfriend without pain of contradiction. If claim to be my friend, one would think that you would stick up for me; that you would not be social with those that screw over your friends. A person who screws over one they claim to love would indeed screw over their friends as well. They are not the type that are to be trusted, must less with which one should be social. To deny this is either to live a contradiction or to be blind to what friendship is: in either case I cannot call you my friend.

he uses all sorts of fancy words to pull the “you can’t be her friend if you really are MY friend” crap that junior high kids pull. I cannot name one single friend who doesn’t have some friend that I do not like. I like my friends for specific things. They like their specific things. Those things aren’t always compatible. I cannot name a single one of MY friends that likes all my friends. Even my husband has GREAT disdain for some of my friends. It’s the way life goes. I don’t like everyone. Everyone doesn’t like me.

Any way its said, with the words of a philosopher, or of a child, it’s still the same message. “If you do not hate who I hate we cannot be friends.” That ceased to be way of life for me when I was 12. And maybe even before that.
