Like a good little consumer I made a payment on my credit card today. Then like a curious eager beaver I logged into my account to see if the amount had posted, and if it hadn’t what my balance was. Lo and behold I found the payment HAD posted already, which I guess technically it’s supposed to be like that, but whatever. THEN I noticed three charges for places I didn’t recognize. NY TIMES SALES, BMC*ONE SPIRIT and MYSTERY GUILD. The totaled up up about 50 bucks, and that’s a whole lotta bread to me baby! :) I rang up the credit card company and after waiting about 10 minutes to get to a live person, I was promptly told that there was a “Fraud Watch” already put on the account and that I needed to be put through to a special department. After about 15 minutes of waiting for that person to become live, I got to someone. She read off about 10 more charges, some going all the way up to like 900 bucks. I made NO such charges, and they agreed. They’re sending me a new card, should be here Thursday. I’m going on vacation soon and some of the reservations are on that card. I have to call, or contract, like 3 or 4 different places to change the numbers and explain the situation when the new card gets here. Originally she told me that it would take 7 - 10 days, and when I told her about the vacation, she said she could get it here Thursday via Fed-Ex. That was pretty snazzy of her. Only three charges posted because the others had the wrong expiration dates. Betcha some skank (i think it was a girl based on where the purchases were made) got my card somehow, copied the digits, then ordered shit online with my card. Heebee Jeebees, Man! How scary is that! I wonder if the bitch got her stuff. Bright side - when I add the picture to my card now....It will look more like me. :) Newer glasses and more current hairstyle! :) My DL picture and my CC picture are both about a year old now, and I look different. Longer hair, different glasses. That’s totally a different thing though. I just can’t believe someone was using my card to commit fraud. That’s totally not fucking cool.
